“Who is your favorite golfer of all time?” I ask my Dad.
“Francis Ouimet,” he says with a big smile.
“I mean of your generation?”
“That’s a tough question,” he says. “Nicklaus, that’s kind of boring. Same with Woods. I am sticking with Ouimet. He grew up across the street form the The Country Club in Brookline. Worked as a caddie. His dad didn’t even want him to play golf and then he went on to win the US Open in 1913 as a teenager. He beat the best professionals of the day in a Monday playoff. Ouimet was a beast and his dad showed up to give him a hug when it was all over. I am sticking with Ouimet.”
“Dad that’s not an answer, I still want an answer. This generation,” I demand.
“I’ll get back to you,” says dad.
Any one else got an answer?
