Breaking Stories

Potowomut’s Bobby Leopold captured his second straight RIGA Burke Memorial Championship and he did it the way he did a year ago, winning on the second playoff hole.
A year ago, the British native edged Charlie Blanchard with a birdie on their second extra hole at Shelter Harbor.

This year, Leopold knocked off Wannamoisett’s Ben Tuthill with a par on their second playoff hole in the rain at Wanumetonomy.  Leopold and Tuthill finished regulation play with a 36-hole total of three over 142. One stroke behind at 4 over 143 were Metacomet’s Eugene DiSarro and North Kingstown’s Dave Nuttal.

Ryan Gumbel from Metacomet was next at 144. Valley’s George Pirie was the low senior with a 145.

Top read. Aaliyah was a great musician. A celebrity I both respect and will never forget. It’s such a shame what happened to her. The pop art painting I bought of her is supercool and will be cherished forever!
